Tenerife is one of the Canarian Islands, the highest peak of Spain - Teide volcano is located here. Firstly we came here for one month but later decided to stay for two
We rented an apartment with an ocean view in a small town called Puerto de Santiago near to Los Gigantos. West coast of the island has less rainfalls in the autumn and is less windy than south coast.
As it turned out, the high season on Tenerife starts in November and accommodation prices grow almost twice!
Rocky beach near to one of the hotels, we've snorkled here for a bit.
There is an ocean water pool nearby. Actually, it's just a chunk of ocean surrounded by concrete walls.
Sunset view from our balcony.
Went for a ride to Teide volcano. The road there goes through a national park.
Another attraction nearby was whale & dolphin watching boat trip.
We chose a boat called "Flipper Uno", the trip is 2 hours long and cost 20 EUR.
The price includes paella on board and drinks from the bar.
We couldn't find any whales, but spotted a few dolphins.
They were swimming near the boat and jumping out of the water.
Masca canyon, another popular tourist attraction.
We met another sunset in the evening.
On the next day we went to Masca village. This small village became popular once the road there was built. The hike down to Masca canyon starts in this village.
There is an option to order a trip where you will be taken to the village by bus/taxi.
From the village you hike down to the ocean, where a boat will be waiting to take you back to Los Gigantos.
We decided to go with our own car without a booked trip, just to visit the village.
The road there is very narrow and windy and sometimes it gets scary
The village itself did not impress us very much.
There is snow already on top of the Teide.
Another sunset, this time with rain.
Near to the capital of the island, Santa-Cruz-de-Tenerife, there is one interesting beach - Playa de Las Teresitas. It is about 1.3 km long and the sand was brought here from the Sahara desert by barges.
Most of the beaches on the island have black volcanic sand.
After the beach we visited the capital city - Santa-Cruz-de-Tenerife.
Central square is a big shallow pool which gets filled by water from time to time.
Tourist information in a hobbit-house.
Looks like this building has only one wall. But it's actually triangular.
Visited Garcia Sanabria park.
There is a whole cactus forest in there.
For dinner we went to a place called Santo Pecado.
At 7 PM all the restaurants were almost empty.
7 PM is too early for locals, they start their dinner at around 9 PM.
Grilled salmon roll
Croquettes
Vegetable Curry
Santo Pecado Burger
Tenerife is a great place to spend winter, by the end of November it got a bit colder and windy, but still very comfortable place
