Sintra, Portugal

Sintra is a town not far away to the north of Cascais. It's located near to Sintra-Cascais Natural Park, which has a lot of interesting places. We were going to visit some of them.
We started from Quinta da Regaleira estate. The palace and park around it was owned by different people over the time and in 1996 it was acquired by Sintra Town Hall.
There is an extensive system of tunnels in the park which connects different places to each other. There is also a big well, called "Unfinished Well", which is more like an underground tower with spiral stairs.
Next we went to the Castle of the Moors. The castle was constructed by the moors during the 8th and 9th century. The castle walls are well preserved and have a perimeter of 450 meters. From the walls there is a great panoramic view on Sintra and Lisabon suburbs.
