Our California road-trip started in San-Francisco.
We rented a car for 11 days and headed south to Sequoia National Park.
Our route was on the scenic Highway 1, but the weather wasn't great this day, so most of the time we spent in a thick fog.
There is a beach near to San-Simeon, where a lot of elephant seals live.
We saw them during a period called molting. During this time the seals haul to the beach to shed their outer layer skin.
This process takes about a month, during this time they just lay on a beach and do not consume any food.
By the evening we arrived to our hotel, but it turned out that Booking.com canceled our reservation and we didn't get a notice, since we didn't have any internet.
We had to find a new place and drive there.
In the morning we went to Sequoia National Park. This park is famous for its giant sequoia trees.
General Sherman - the biggest tree on Earth (by volume) - is locaed here.
Along General Sherman neighbours are another 5 of 10 biggest trees in the world.
General Sherman. Height: 83.8 m (274.9 ft), Circumference at ground: 31.3 m (102.6 ft),
weight: 1910 metric tons, estimated age: 2300-2700 years.
But it's not even the oldes tree in this park, there are some trees that are around 3500 years old!
