Phuket, Thailand

We started our Asian trip from Thailand. We settled on Phuket island in a city called Karon. Karon has one of the best beaches on the island. We rented a studio apartment with a sea view 15 minutes away from the beach.

Karon beach is wide and long, there are many tourists and questionable entertainment.

Not far away from our apartment we had a nice cafe with local food. Also the whole street down to the beach is covered with cafes and restaurants. Menu and prices are mostly the same in all of them. Seafood, rice and noodles are very popular here. The most famous dish here is fired rice in a pineapple.

We rented a car for 4 hours to make a sightseeing tour.

Kata viewpoint, Karon beach is seen far away.

Chalong Peer, most of the islands trip are departed from here.

One of the main attractions on the island is Big Buddha. The 45 meter tall statue of Buddha stands here. The building started in early 2000-s.

There are monkeys living here, but they don't get close to people.

Not far away from Big Buddha there is a buddhist monastery called Wat Chalong. It is very popular among tourist and locals.

People stick pieces of gold leafs to the status as an offering.
