Cheri Monastery, Bhutan

The next place on our list wast Chagri Dorjeden Monastery, also known as Cheri Monastery. This monastery was founded in 1620 and located on the mountain 15 km away from the capital.

On the road we stopped nearby holy water source for Guru Rinpoche. There we also saw prayer wheels moved by the water.

We get to the base camp with the car, from here it's about 3 hours hike to the monastery. We managed it in 3,5 hours

The trash can wants you to use it and love it.

After the monastery we also visited Simply Bhutan museum. It display everyday life of bhutanese people. Ladies demonstrated us a dance, which was used in the old days during new house construction.

The phallus (or lingam) is thought to be a protective symbol in Bhutan.
It scares away angry spirits and can be seen in many places in Bhutan.
